Summer Reads – or What Books I’m Taking On Holiday

I’m off on my Summer holidays in the next few days, so thought I’d dedicate a post to what I’m taking. It’s a coach trip, and we’re spending about half the trip travelling to and from the destination (Austria), so I plan to take four books, 2 physical, 2 Kindle. Of course the great thing about taking my Kindle is if I get through all 4 books I can always download another one!

The Girlfriend, by Michelle Frances

The addictive Number One bestselling thriller, perfect for fans of Into the Water.

A girl. A boy. His mother. And the lie she’ll wish she’d never told.

The Girlfriend is a gripping and chilling debut psychological thriller, based on the fall-out following an unforgivable lie. It looks at the potentially charged relationship between girlfriend, boyfriend and his mother, which most women can identify with, and locates it in an extreme but believable setting.

Laura has it all. A successful career, a long marriage to a rich husband, and a twenty-three year-old son, Daniel, who is kind, handsome, and talented. Then Daniel meets Cherry. Cherry is young, beautiful and smart but she hasn’t had the same opportunities as Daniel. And she wants Laura’s life.

Cherry comes to the family wide-eyed and wants to be welcomed with open arms, but Laura suspects she’s not all that she seems.

When tragedy strikes, an unforgivable lie is told. It is an act of desperation, but the fall-out will change their lives forever.

Well, the two physical books both have very summery covers. And regular viewers of my Blog will know I have devoured every book in Faith Martin’s “Hillary Greene” series. The latest one (Murder Of A Lover) is due out on June 18th, and I’m behind on the previous one.

Have you read any of these? Let me know if they are any good!

  1. Not read any of these titles so be interested to see what you make of them. Deciding on what books to take on holiday is always a tricky one, especially for me, given my vintage focus, as I have try and make sure the books I take can physically withstand the journey. Probably where a Kindle comes in handy. Hope you have a good time on your holiday!
