October Wrap Up and Goals Check In #Goodreads #MountTBR #IdRatherBeReading #OldSchoolKidLit2018

Hello friends!

I can’t believe it’s the 1st November already! Time to see how I’m getting on with my goals.

Challenge 1 : Goodreads 2018

The Railway Children, by E. Nesbit

Murder in Mind, by Faith Martin, reviewed here

Murder on the Marshes, by Clare Chase

Black Beauty, by Anna Sewell

Death on the River, by Clare Chase, reviewed here

The Children Act, by Ian McEwan

Closer, by KL Slater, reviewed here

A Rising Man, by Abir Mukherjee

I feel as though this has been a really long month. There have been a few books that I’ve read that seem to have taken me ages to get through. Some because I’ve not enjoyed them, but others I just haven’t really had the concentration.

I’m now at 129% of my Goodreads goal. I’ve read 90 of the 70 I was aiming for – I’m hoping to get to 100 by the end of the year!

My book of the month this month goes to “Death on the River”, by Clare Chase.

Challenge 2 – Mount TBR

I’ve only knocked another one off the list this month – I got Black Beauty on Kindle last year – even though the edition I ended up reading was loaned from Mum. 21 read now, so another 3 to go!

Challenge 3 – The 2018 Reading Challenge

I’m back on track for this challenge now – this month I read another 2 books for the 12 book challenge. The first was “Banned Book”, for this I read “Black Beauty” by Anna Sewell – apparently it was banned during the Apartheid era in South Africa as it had the word “black” in the title. The second was “Book by an author of a different race, ethnicity or religion than your own” – I’ve just finished “A Rising Man” by Abir Mukherjee. I now have 2 challenges left – “Book that’s more than 500 pages”, which I’m dreading as I really don’t like big books, and “Recommended by a librarian or indie bookseller”.

Challenge 4 – Old School Kidlit

Another 2 books of the 6 done – so I’m kind of back on track. I read “The Railway Children” and “Black Beauty”.

I’m really happy with my progress this month – how have you got on?
