Review: Silent Scream, by Angela Marsons

About the book:

Even the darkest secrets can’t stay buried forever…

Five figures gather round a shallow grave. They had all taken turns to dig. An adult-sized hole would have taken longer. An innocent life had been taken but the pact had been made. Their secrets would be buried, bound in blood . . .

Years later, a headmistress is found brutally strangled, the first in a spate of gruesome murders which shock the Black Country.

But when human remains are discovered at a former children’s home, disturbing secrets are also unearthed. D.I. Kim Stone fast realises she’s on the hunt for a twisted individual whose killing spree spans decades.

As the body count rises, Kim needs to stop the murderer before they strike again. But to catch the killer, can Kim confront the demons of her own past before it’s too late?

My thoughts:

Sometimes you hear so many people raving about a particular author or series, you wonder if its overhyped and are put off reading them.

Sometimes you regret putting off reading said author or series.

Yes, I’m the latest member of the DI Kim Stone appreciation society! And very late to it too!

I was delighted to see the book started as it meant to go on – with a murder! I was gripped from the first page. The short chapters meant I suffered from “just-one-more-chapter” syndrome. Who would die next? How many bodies were buried near the former children’s home?

I loved the character of Kim Stone. No nonsense, strong, independent and a real kick ass heroine. I loved the fact that with this being the first in the series we found out so much about her past. No doubt a lot more to come!

It will come as no surprise I gave this a full 5*.

The big question is should I now start on book 2 or read something else?!
