Hello friends!

I have finally finished the “Modern Mrs Darcy” reading challenge, so thought I’d do a quick round up.

The Kill Fee, by Fiona Veitch Smith – I had been meaning to read this one for a while so that I could get to the third in the series which I had on Netgalley. Read the short review here

A book published before you were born

Good Wives, by Louisa May Alcott – having read and loved the first book last year I was looking forward to this, although it didn’t live up to expectations. Read the short review here

A book by an author who is new to you

Close to Home, by Cara Hunter – I read a number of “new to me” authors this year, but I chose this one. I loved it – you can find a full review here

A book outside your comfort zone

Anne of Green Gables, by L.M. Montgomery – I’ve only recently started reading Children’s Classics, and still wouldn’t call them my comfort zone! You can read a short review here

A book in translation

Watching You, by Arne Dahl – you’d think that this challenge wouldn’t prove difficult, as I read quite a few translated crime novels with my European Crime reading group! However, this year several of the books were originally written in English, or for whatever reason I just didn’t manage to read them. Read a short review here

A book you chose for the cover

A Death at Fountains Abbey, by Antonia Hodgson – I’m not really big on buying books just because of the cover, but I do particularly like the cover for this! Read a full review here
